What is Pinball?
Pinball is a free browser pinball table with two flippers, five scoring bumpers and a row of drop targets across the top. You launch the ball with a power meter, then keep it alive by working the flippers as it comes down. Bumpers score and kick the ball back up hard, and lighting all five drop targets pays a 2,500 point bonus and resets them. You get three balls.
How to play Pinball
Controls: Hold left or right side for flippers
- 1Tap to launch the ball when the power meter is where you want it.
- 2Hold the bottom left of the screen to raise the left flipper, bottom right for the right one.
- 3On a keyboard, the left and right arrow keys work the flippers.
- 4Hit bumpers to score and drop targets to light them.
- 5Light all five targets for a big bonus. Lose the ball down the middle and you lose a life.
Pinball tips and strategy
- Do not hold the flippers up. A raised flipper has nowhere left to travel, so the ball just rolls off it - flip as the ball arrives, not before.
- Catch the ball on a lowered flipper, let it settle, then flip. A controlled shot is worth far more than a panicked swat.
- Hit the ball with the tip of the flipper for the most power, and nearer the base for a softer, more controlled shot.
- Chase the drop targets rather than the bumpers. The 2,500 bonus is worth more than a long run of bumper hits, and the targets reset so you can do it again.
Pinball FAQ
How do you control the ball in pinball?
Time the flip to the ball's arrival instead of holding the flipper up. A flipper that is already raised has no swing left in it and the ball simply rolls off. Better players also trap the ball on a resting flipper, let it settle, and then take an aimed shot.
What are drop targets worth?
Each one scores 300 as you knock it down, and lighting all five at once pays a 2,500 point bonus and resets the bank so you can do it again. That bonus is the biggest single score on the table.
How many balls do you get?
Three in the standard game, or five in Marathon mode.
Can I play pinball with a keyboard?
Yes. The left and right arrow keys work the two flippers and the space bar launches the ball, which most people find easier than touch on a desktop.
