Tap a square to open it. The number tells you how many mines touch that square, counting diagonals.
Long-press a square to plant a flag - or turn on the flag button in the bar and tap normally. On a desktop, right-click.
Once a number has all its flags placed, tap the number to open everything around it in one go.
Open every safe square to win. You never have to flag a single mine if you would rather not.
The very first square you open is always safe, and always opens a clear patch.
